Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members,
Thank you to our many families who attended our Meet the Teacher this past week and shared their appreciation about experiencing A Day in the Life of [Their} Student. It was a pleasure to meet and talk with you!
Last week's Terry Fox Walk/Run was a powerful event including an outstanding video to commemorate Terry Fox and the opportunity for Wise Wood students to share “Who I am Running For". Check out the Red Shoe Display in our Foyer.
Our practice lockdown went smoothly on Monday. Thank you to our CPS partners for the support and professionalism.
For Grade 11 and 12 IB Families, please consider joining our online meeting tomorrow at 6pm, the link and more information can be found at http://info.hwwib.ca.
Next week we will honour our Truth and Reconciliation commitments with student activities offered at lunch each day and a dedicated Warrior Connect on Thursday, our Orange Shirt Day. We will be exploring the following topics as a way to strengthen our understanding as a collective school community :
· Treaties and Kinship
· The Land as Teacher
· Reclamation and Reconciliation
As a staff, we recognize our personal and collective commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and each of us will commit to a personal call to action.
I share this invitation to our Warrior Families as well. There are TRC events throughout the city on Saturday including activities at Fort Calgary, the Arts Commons and Telus Spark. As we continue to strive to build strong relationships in community, we invite you to reflect on How will we each honour our Truth and Reconciliation Commitments?
A reminder of our AGM School Council meeting this upcoming Monday, September 25 at 6:30pm in the Courtyard or online. We would love to see you there.
With appreciation,
Aileen Smyth
Principal
