Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members,

Thank you to those families who were able to attend our School Conferences. We would love some feedback from you on this short survey

Thank you also to those parents/guardians who were able to attend this week's School Council meeting in person or online; it was a pleasure to connect with you! Please save the date for our November School Council and Parent and Alumni meetings on November 27 at 6:30pm.

The week we hosted an in-province post-secondary fair for students. We know this is a busy time for our Grade 12s as they consider their opportunities for next year. The Guidance team is here to provide support. Grad photos also begin later this week.

We had a great time at the Hallowe'en parade during Wise Time yesterday to wrap up our Spirit Week. This Wise Wood tradition included costume prizes and a great deal of fun! Thank you to all the participants and to the classes that cheered us on as we moved through the hallways.

Congratulations to our Model UN team for an outstanding showing this past weekend, and to Speech and Debate for their medal as well. We are so proud of our Athletics teams who are working hard to finish their season strong as we move into Playoffs. Come on out and support our teams!

A reminder that Term 1 is complete and today marks the beginning of Term 2. Report cards go live on Wednesday, November 8. This is a snapshot of your child's current learning progress. Please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions.

November 8 will also hold our Remembrance Day Assemblies; students will be preparing in Warrior Connect this Friday. These Assemblies will be multi-grade by Warrior Connect in the main gym. Thank you to our Fine Arts and CTS teams and the students and Veterans who will take part in creating a memorable commemoration.

Our final exam schedule will be shared on our website later this week. Regular classes continue until January 19. Please review the schedule with your student; students are asked to sit final exams as scheduled. January final exam schedule is attached.

And to close, just to share that it has come to our attention that CUPE is organizing an event near our school at lunchtime today which may or may not involve the news media.

While we recognize the right of citizens to advocate for causes, I also want to recognize that this is not a Calgary Board of Education-organized event and it is not taking place on school grounds. Reporters are permitted to speak to students if they are off school property.

Wishing you best for the week,

Aileen Smyth
