Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members,
Our Remembrance Day Assemblies today were dignified, reflective and so heartfelt, as we honour our Veterans and their sacrifice. We also honour Indigenous Veterans’ Day today. Thank you to our Cadets, our Fine Arts students, our Emcees, and all student participants. We thank our Veteran guests and speakers for their presence. And, we thank our outstanding Fine Arts and CTS team for their organization of the beautiful event. Lest We Forget.
Agents for Change are supporting a food collection for the Veterans’ Association Food Bank through November 17. To encourage those donations, three teachers have "volunteered" to sing a karaoke song in the Main Foyer the week before Winter Break. Staff and students can choose which teacher they want to hear sing by putting their donation in that teacher's collection box in the main foyer.
Next week we commemorate Metis Week with activities in Warrior Connect. We will also focus on student goal setting in relation to T1 report cards and what outcomes students yet need to demonstrate and what supports they need to access. Report cards are Live today and provide a snapshot of learning at this point in the semester. Grade 10 parents, please watch for a separate communication about OBA and PowerSchool.
We will finish next week with our 3rd fire drill of the year on Friday, November 17 at 1:40pm. Please note that our next Wednesday Warrior will be November 22.
To close, Happy Diwali to all of our families who are celebrating the Festival of Lights this weekend! Wishing each of our Warriors a peaceful Fall Break and we will see students back to school on Wednesday, November 15.
With appreciation,
Aileen Smyth
Principal
