Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members,
Thank you to all of our parents/guardians who were able to join us at School Council this week, in person and online. We are so appreciative of the Wish List items approved.
We are looking forward to December and a number of celebrations including:
· Drama production- Almost Maine- Dec 5-7 at 7pm in the Drama Room. Tickets are $10 in the foyer at lunch or at the door.
· Music production- Winter Concert- Dec 13 at 7pm in the King Gym. No tickets required. Cash donations gratefully accepted at the door for Band students to purchase Toy Mountain gifts.
· Leadership students lead 12 Days of Spirit, see below for more information.
Break a Leg to Ms Ykema and Ms Newman and the Band and Drama students; we look forward to wonderful productions.
Staff had an excellent day of professional learning on November 24 as we dug into outcomes- based assessment and our collaborative response work. We enjoyed a blend of full staff and department groupings. This conversation was an effective follow up to the student goal setting completed in Warrior Connect on November 17. Students will be asked to re-visit their goal setting at the end of Terms 2, 3 & 4. In December we will focus on exam prep, test anxiety and giving back.
Our Winter Sports are underway in Jr and Sr Girls and Boys Basketball, Wrestling, Swim/Dive and Curling. We have been enjoying Badminton Intramurals in the gym at lunch. Thank you to all of our coaches, our Athletic Director Karen Cheney, and our wonderful parents/guardians for all the rides, lunches and spectator support, we will see you soon.
With gratitude,
Aileen Smyth
Principal
