Principal’s Message - May 8th, 2024
Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members,
We are looking forward to our school yard cleanup Thursday at lunch, led by our Environmental Club. Students should meet in the front foyer to take part.
We are also looking ahead to our Warrior Voice Active Transportation Cafe. Students are invited to attend on Friday, May 24 from 2:15- 3:30 in the cafeteria to provide their feedback to our City Councilor about Active Transportation at HWW. Students can sign up via the QR code in Warrior Connect or posters around the school.
We appreciate our student-led club initiatives. This week we have a fundraiser for the Alex Society hosted by our Warrior Allyance Club with handmade bracelets. Next, our Agents for Change host their Ice Cream Social, and this past week, our Interact Club did a lemonade fundraiser to support Sawyer Water Filters.
Our IB exam session has been going smoothly; our hats are off to our hardworking students. Speaking of which, today is Hats Off For Mental Health as we acknowledge Mental Health Week from May 6-12. We will be taking up some material in Warrior Connect over the next couple weeks. This year’s theme is Healing Through Compassion.
In Warrior Connect, we will also be exploring materials regarding Bear Witness Day and Jordan’s Principle, Soon upcoming will be our formal Garden opening including an Indigenous Elder visit to name and bless the garden and offer some medicine teachings. We appreciate the opportunity to continue our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation as a school community.
In Fine Arts news, be sure to get your tickets for Romeo and Juliet; shows are running May 15-17.
In closing, we send particular appreciation to all of those family fans who have been braving the weather to come to our outdoor games this season, and to our athletes, coaches, and trainers. Go, Warriors!
