Principal’s Message
Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members,
We are so excited to celebrate our Class of 2024 at on Graduation Day on May 30. Please see the grad newsletters and D2L shell for all the details.
Throughout the year, we have honoured and recognized our unique community with events such as National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, Black History Month and Culture Day.
As highlighted in our CBE Dates of Significance, next week is National Accessibility week. This is a dedicated time to raise awareness about accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities. It's an opportunity to celebrate progress made in creating more accessible environments, while also acknowledging the work that still needs to be done to ensure equal access for all individuals.
June is Pride Month, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. The CBE reaffirms our commitment to creating safe and caring learning and work environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff. Here at Wise Wood, our Warrior ALLYance club is sponsoring optional lunchtime activities June 3-6 in the Cafeteria, including music, fun/learning activities and a fundraiser for the Alex Society.
Just a reminder of our June exam schedule, posted on our website. We have fielded some questions about the modified schedule for June 11 and 12.
All students are invited to attend both June 11 and 12; please note that attendance will not be notified via PowerSchool. Individual open rooms and exam spaces will have paper sign in.
On these modified days, students will be doing one of four things:
· Writing a Diploma exam
· Writing a Non-diploma exam
· Coming for “On Demand” time- this is required attendance for students who are missing assignments/assessments. Teachers will be notifying students of the date, location and time when student(s) is required to attend.
· Coming for support in “open rooms”, working opportunities with a supervising teacher will be provided for all students. Please note that students may not have access to their course teacher due to teachers supervising exams. Notification to come about these room locations on the first floor.
The Courtyard, Library and computer labs will not be available as they will be set up for exams.
We look forward to an excellent exam session,
Aileen Smyth
