Principal’s Message - September 25

Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members, It has been an important week as we prepare to observe the upcoming National Day of Truth and Reconciliation and continue in our individual and collective work of taking up the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action. Last Friday, in Warrior Connect, staff and students watched several videos related to Truth and Reconciliation. These videos served as valuable prompts to help each of us in our reflections on what personal actions we might consider to advance the work of reconciliation.

At Henry Wise Wood High School, we continue our commitment to:

-anchor our work in the Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework

-collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Indigenous Communities

-reflect on our professional practice

-continue our work to ignite and foster the learning spirit within all students

-honour and elevate the voices of our students who self-identify as Indigenous

We will wear our Orange Shirts on Thursday and, this weekend, we encourage our Warrior families to attend one of many Calgary events and to revisit the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Thank you for your partnership with us and continued support of our Warrior students,

With appreciation,

Teresa Martin Principal
