Principal's Message - April 16
Dear HWW Students, Families and Community members,
Our Culture Week is well underway here at Wise Wood, with lunchtime activities including Kahoot and, of course, feasting! On Thursday, we will have our Culture Week booths in the Courtyard as students share about their cultural traditions. Students are invited to wear their cultural attire or Warrior wear and join for a shared photo at the end of the day.
On Monday’s Non-Instructional Day, staff will be taking part in system-wide opportunities to further our learning in a variety of areas including assessment, English as an Additional Language, and sessions focused on diversity, equity and inclusion.
Due to the upcoming April 28 election, we will be adjusting our School Council meeting date to Monday, May 5. This will be offered in a hybrid format, at the school or online. Start time remains 6:30pm.
Our School Council agenda will include an Active Transportation Café about walking, biking, and driving in and around our school grounds. Parents/Guardians, please come and share your voice. There will be a student café virtually in Warrior Connect on May 2 and in person on May 9.
April is Sikh Heritage Month, which provides an opportunity to celebrate Sikh culture, arts and heritage. Happy Baisakhi! We also wish a Happy Tamil New Year, Chag Sameach and Happy Easter to all of our Warrior families celebrating this week.
With appreciation,
Aileen Smyth, Principal
