Principal's Message - April 23

Dear HWW Students, Families and Community members,

We enjoyed an outstanding Culture Week with courtyard Kahoot takeovers, potluck, cultural attire and Culture Booths. Thank you to all students and staff who participated as we continue to build and share our cultural knowledge and experiences.

On Monday’s Non-Instructional Day, staff enjoyed an excellent day of learning. With the opportunity to hear speakers Enid Lee and Matthew R. Morris, I continue to think deeply about equity and access for all students.

As a staff, we have identified some student attendance issues during Term 3. We will be working on additional attendance interventions and ask you as parents/guardians for your support. If you are receiving attendance notifications, please talk with your student about getting back on track. Attendance has a significant correlation to student achievement and Term 4 is now well underway.

For Grade 12 parents/guardians, please review this important video for banquet ticket purchases. We have moved to an online system through Rycor this year.

A reminder that our School Council meeting is now on Monday, May 5. This will be offered in a hybrid format, both at the school and online at 6:30pm. Come share your voice about Active Transportation in and around our school grounds.

With appreciation,

Aileen Smyth, Principal
