Principal’s Message - June 12, 2024

Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members,

If you haven’t had the opportunity to see the irises in front of the school, take a look. They are magnificent. Our Truth and Reconciliation Garden will soon be planted.

Friday is the last day of regular classes and exams begin full time on Monday, Please have a look at the exam schedule with your student to ensure they are familiar with the times and dates they are writing. Please ensure your students attend their exams as scheduled. With any emergency issues, please reach out to Beverly Delion, Assistant Principal.

Additionally, June 17-26 provide for Credit Recovery opportunities. This is an opportunity for students or teachers to request additional time to focus on course completion. Students are invited to follow up with their teachers to discuss these opportunities.

The Grade 12 Fun Day was a great success this past week; we were proud of all of our Warriors and especially grateful to our PE team for running field games and cooking hot dogs. The sunshine was much appreciated.

This upcoming Friday our wonderful School Council will be holding a Student Appreciation event in the foyer, with popcorn and drinks. Next week, Fuel Your Brain is underway. Students can stop by the Warrior Shop for a free healthy snack to “fuel” their exam writing. We appreciate deeply the support that our School Council provides to the school and to the students.

Next Friday, June 21, we will honour National Indigenous Peoples’ Day as a staff as we revisit and renew of our TRC Commitments. More information will be shared in next week’s update.

Wishing all of our Warriors a successful exam session,

Aileen Smyth

Principal
