Principal's Message - June 4
Dear HWW Students, Families and Community members,
Congratulations to our Class of 2025! Our Graduation Ceremony and Banquet were a wonderful success. Thank you to all our guests in person and online. Our distinguished alumni was Dallas Flexhaug; sharing here the Global News story. The day was full of joy and celebration, well done, Warriors.
So many highlights this week already:
· Our Jr Boys Soccer team took Silver in the City after an outstanding season
· Our Sr Boys Rugby team took home the GOLD and head to provincials this weekend
· Our Jr Boys Rugby team make a run for gold this Thursday at 4:30 at the Calgary Rugby Union. Come on out and cheer!
· Our Track athletes head to Provincials this weekend
Last evening was the perfect opportunity to celebrate our Warrior student athletes at Night of the Warrior. Thank you to our incredible Athletic Director, Karen Cheney, and the whole team who put the evening together. Tonight we celebrate our CTS & Fine and Performing Arts students and achievements.
Reprising a few reminders:
- Lockers will be emptied in Warrior Connect on Friday. Yearbooks will be handed out.
- Our June exam schedule, posted on our website . As in previous years, we will be offering credit rescue opportunities throughout exams. June 13 and 16 we are offering subject area support during the day. More information to come regarding the attendance protocol for those two days.
And as we move into June, I want to share our Pride. The Calgary Board of Education strives to ensure that all schools are safe and caring places for students and staff. As a public school system, we welcome students from diverse backgrounds, perspectives and beliefs. At Henry Wise Wood we honour and recognize our school community throughout the year on dates of significance. June is Pride Month internationally, a time to recognize the pursuit of equality and rights for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. The CBE is committed to safe and caring learning and work environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students and staff. This week, we recognized Pride Month through optional lunch hour activities including decorating the steps, a documentary screening, karaoke and a craft sale. Thank you to all of our Warrior ALLYance student leaders.
With gratitude,
Aileen Smyth, Principal
