Principal’s Message

Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members,

Today we held our Veterans’ Tea. This Wise Wood tradition sees over 40 Veterans come to share tea, story and experiences with our students. The students are incredibly focussed and respectful, and ask thoughtful questions within their Programs of Study.

This year there was an opportunity for students to view WWII vehicles provided by the Alberta Military Vehicle Association. The Quilts of Valour were displayed and gifted to Veterans. We thank all of our guests, organizers, staff and students who took part in this incredibly moving event.

This week we honour Metis Week and the opportunity to acknowledge the rich culture, history and resilience of the Metis peoples.

On Thursday, November 27 we are hosting our Grade 9 Tours and Open House. There is an adjusted “Mega Block” schedule as follows:

Wednesday, November 26

8:57am-11:43am Period 2

12:34pm-3:33pm Period 4

Thursday, November 27

8:57am-11:43am Period 1

12:24pm-3:33pm Period 3

A reminder that School Progress Conferences are virtual this semester on Friday, November 28 from 8am-2pm. Sign up information in this newsletter

If you are looking for ways to support the school and our Fine and Performing Arts program, please consider our Can You Help Us Turn Up Our Theatre Lights Campaign through Ed Matters.

As winter roads are upon us, please watch for our Warriors walking across the streets and on the sidewalks around the school.

With gratitude,

Aileen Smyth

Principal
