Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community members,
We hope that everyone has been enjoying the lovely spring weather...it seems every time I write that, it snows...! Thanks to all of our Spring Sports fans who have been attending our games, even when it’s chilly.
April is Sikh Heritage Month as we honour the many Sikh Canadians. At Wise Wood we look forward to our Culture Day on April 25, and invite all students to wear cultural attire and Warrior wear, as well as visit our student-led booths in the Courtyard at lunchtime.
It has been a busy time at Wise Wood as students and teachers prepare for Term 3 report cards; these are live on April 18. As we move into the final term of the year, and approximately 40 remaining instructional days, we want to support students in finishing strong.
As a staff, we have identified a significant student attendance issue. We will be working on additional attendance interventions and ask you as Parents/Guardians for your support. If you are receiving attendance notifications, please talk with your student about getting back on track. Attendance has a significant correlation to student achievement.
This week is our Agents for Change Food Drive. Donations requested include canned goods, cereal and other non–perishable food items. Next week is Interact week led by our Interact club. We greatly appreciate these service-oriented students doing good in our community!
On our April 19 System PD Day, Staff will be taking part in a number of session offerings in person and online, as well as some in-house exploration of the role of AI in education, and continuing our OBA work.
A reminder of our upcoming School Council meeting with a focus on Wellbeing, being held on April 22 at 6:30pm both in person and online.
Chag Sameach to our Warrior families celebrating Passover next week.
With appreciation,
Aileen Smyth
Principal
