SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION 2025

The Calgary Board of Education will once again be offering summer school opportunities for students in grades 10 -12 this July.  Students may register in a maximum of one course through the CBE for summer school and therefore must choose between online, in-person, Dual Credit, Exploratory or Off-Campus opportunity.  For a complete list of course offerings, please visit: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/programs/high-school/summer-school/Pages/summer-school-courses.aspx

30 level courses will have diploma exams held in August.  Only Social Studies 30-2 Part A and Part B Diploma Exams will be written at Ernest Manning High School. All other Diploma Exams, for in-person and online classes, will be written at Nelson Mandela High School.

IN-PERSON SUMMER SCHOOL

ONLINE SUMMER SCHOOL

In-person summer school programming will be offered through Chinook Learning Services July 2-25, 2025 from 8:15am-12:56pm at 5 different high school locations in the city:

·                Centennial high School

·                Forest Lawn High School

·                Ernest Manning High School

·                Nelson Mandela High School

·                Sir Winston Churchill High School

Please note that not all courses are being offered at all locations.  Click here to view course offerings and locations or view the charts posted at the office.

Online summer programming will be offered through CBeLearn June 30-July 25.  Once registered, students will have access to courses through D2L.  While there is opportunity to interact with teachers through synchronous online offerings, these are not mandatory.

Each day of summer instruction is the equivalent of one week of a semestered high school program.  A student may not miss class and is expected to attend every class as scheduled and to be present to write the final examination on the last day of class

Students must have access to suitable technology and a reliable internet connection.  Those planning to travel may experience difficulties connecting to D2L so this may not be a good option

Summer school programming is condensed and intensive and students must be prepared to manage time and workload independently.  There is an expected time commitment of approximately 5 hours per weekday for 5 credit courses.
