Dear Henry Wise Wood Families: To align with Alberta’s School Critical Emergency Standards, Henry Wise Wood High School is updating its building access procedures, effective immediately. These standards complement, and do not replace other requirements related to health, safety, and building operations. During high-volume arrival and lunch periods, exterior doors may be open when they are actively supervised by school staff. At all other times, exterior doors will remain locked, and students, families, and visitors will be required to enter through the main entrance by buzzing in at 8:00 am or later. We recognize that this change may be an inconvenience, particularly for students and families who are accustomed to using other entrances throughout the day. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we adjust to this process. While these changes may require some additional planning and may feel different from our previous routines, the purpose is to enhance the safety and security of our students and staff and to ensure we are meeting the expectations established in our administrative regulations and through the new provincial safety requirements. Active supervision will take place during the times below:
We recognize that this will represent a significant change for many of our Grade 11 and 12 students, while our Grade 10 students may already be familiar with a controlled entry process from their junior high experience. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our school community adapts to these new procedures. Your support will be instrumental in helping us make this transition as smooth as possible. We kindly ask that you remind your child(ren) to use the designated entrance and exit points and to allow a little extra time when arriving at school, particularly during peak entry periods. Our goal is to maintain a welcoming and accessible school environment while also ensuring that we are taking every reasonable measure to protect the safety of our students and staff. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and partnership as we implement these important safety measures. Take good care, Henry Wise Wood Administration | ||||||||||||
