Dear Henry Wise Wood Families: Thank you to the many families that were able to join us at Meet the Teacher this past Wednesday. As a school community, we proudly joined together to support cancer research. This cause is deeply personal for many, including within our own HWW family. We are thankful for the compassion and care that define our community and for the support shown to all families facing this disease. September 21 – 25: Truth and Reconciliation Week. On Tuesday, we will recognize the 149th Anniversary of the signing of Treaty 7 (https://www.heritagecalgary.ca/heritage-calgary-blog/treaty7day-88dzn) as well as the Fall Equinox. Classroom and Friday’s Warrior Connect activities will culminate in next week’s Orange T-Shirt Day on Tuesday September 29 at HWW, followed by the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The orange shirt has become a symbol of hope, reconciliation, and commitment to a better future. By wearing an orange shirt, we make a statement to support truth & reconciliation and commit to the enduring truth that ‘EVERY CHILD MATTERS’ at HWW and worldwide. This is a great opportunity for new GATE parents to get acquainted with the community and for returning parents to reconnect. During the meeting, we will introduce the GATE Parent Association, review last academic year’s activities, adopt new by-laws, outline this year’s planned initiatives, and seek volunteers for several positions. Fall Diploma Exams: Registration due by Tuesday September 29th If you plan to write a diploma exam in the October/November session, please contact Ms. Deneau at pldeneau@cbe.ab.ca. The fall exam sitting is for students who took a summer school course and either missed the exam or wish to re-write the exam. If you are currently in a diploma course now, in Semester One, you will write the diploma for that course in January. Registration for the Fall Diploma Exams must be completed by September 29th. Demographic Verification Forms Compliance The deadline for families to complete Demographic Verification Forms passed on Monday, Sep.14. Currently, approximately 45% of students do not have a completed Demographic Verification Form for the 2026-27 school year. Henry Wise Wood Fees posted Monday September 21: First semester course fees will be posted for all students tomorrow. We recognize the fiscal challenges many families are facing. Please reference this link if you need financial support. Families can also complete monthly payment plans by choosing to make partial payments in the parent portal. Parking passes will be distributed to the successful applicants the week of October 5. There is still time to submit your parking pass application. The deadline for distribution for passes to be available for the week of October 5 is Thursday, October 1 at 3:30 pm.
