Principal's Update
“Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don’t.” - Bill Nye
Dear HWW Students, Families and Community members,
Here we are, already in March! Our planning for 2026-2027 is underway, as we work alongside our Grade 9 Feeder Schools and our current students to select courses. Thank you to our Feeder School partners and our Wise Wood Guidance and front office teams who are leading this work. As we have limited status for the fall, students are able to apply to transfer to Henry Wise Wood within our IB catchment area or for a sequence of courses not offered at the designated school. Please see the transfer page for information. And, please note March 15 is the deadline for transfers.
We were able to complete Fire Drill #4 yesterday, thank you to all Warriors for following procedures smoothly. Looking ahead, we are hosting our CPS partners for our lockdown practice on Tuesday, March 17 at 10:30am. As I shared at February’s School Council, we appreciate the opportunity to revisit and refine our procedures, particularly during unstructured time.
On the topic of safety, I want to share a reminder and heads up. Our Community Resource Officers have let us know they are conducting enforcement in crosswalks near the school. Drivers may be ticketed for failing to yield to pedestrians and pedestrians may be ticketed for failing to use crosswalks effectively. Also, a reminder that the front of the school is a no stopping zone, we need this clear for busses. We want to keep everyone safe.
Please give yourself lots of time in the morning and be patient. We are a large learning community and drop-off and pick-up will continue to be busy times. We appreciate the work that our Warrior Voice Council and School Council have done to gather information about how to improve bussing, driving, cycling and walking in and around our school. Thank you for your support in driving with extra care.
One final update– please come out to support our Boys basketball teams. Jr Boys progress to semi-finals at home 5:30 today and Sr Boys at 5:30 at Western Canada tomorrow. $2 students/ $5 adults at gate. Go, Warriors!
With gratitude,
Aileen Smyth, Principal
