Principal's Update
Dear HWW Students, Families and Community members,
It’s been an exciting week with Spring Sports’ games underway!
We are cheering for our Girls Field Hockey, Girls Rugby, Boys Rugby, and Boys Soccer teams. Badminton is in Divisionals this week, followed by Cities and Provincials. Check out all the action here on our website calendar.
We really appreciate all our fans. A gentle reminder, when you are coming out to be a spectator on school grounds, please leave your furry friends at home, as per CBE Admin Regulation 6004.
Our Band had an outstanding trip to Ottawa and Montreal, with a strong showing at the Kiwanis Music Festival, a McGill music clinic, and a Seniors’ home performance. Student musicians enjoyed the opportunity to watch a professional rehearsal and concert at the National Arts’ Centre, and to take in a Jazz Night. A big thank you to Director Newman and Mr. Simon for this wonderful learning experience and kudos to our travelling musicians.
Ms Breau and our Leadership students enjoyed a busy week hosting our Japanese student visitors. Student visitors had a chance to visit classes and experience our Warrior family. It is such a privilege to share culture and build community.
Speaking of cultural learning, our fourth annual Culture Week is underway at Wise Wood. Today’s “7 Wonders of the World” Kahoot had students competing enthusiastically. Thank you to our student emcees for bringing such good energy!
We are looking forward to our Culture Fair on Thursday, a reminder for students to wear their Cultural Attire or Warrior Gear, and to come and check out the student booths at lunch in the Courtyard.
And to close, we are planning our first school dance in over a decade, with student leaders selling tickets for $8 now, $10 at the door. This Neon Themed event will no doubt have students, and staff sponsors dancing up a storm. Go, Warriors!
With gratitude,
Aileen Smyth, Principal

Model UN Update
This weekend, the Henry Wise Wood Model UN Delegation attended their final conference of the year at Western Canada High School. With representation in all six committees, a total of 24 students attended. Their hard work was well represented in the award ceremony with 8 individual committee awards and the entire team winning the Most Outstanding Large Delegation award as a group!
Mr. Beland and Ms. Evans would also like to give special recognition to the grade 12 students who participated in their final MUN conference as Henry Wise Wood students. Many of these students have been in this club since its creation in 2023, and we are so proud of all you have accomplished and all that you will! Best of luck as you begin an exciting new chapter of your lives!
