Principal's Update

This note will be one of celebration of our remarkable students.

Mama Mia was a grand success. It was the talk about town! Congrats to Ms Ykema, Ms Newman, Mr. Simon and all of our Musical Theatre students and Technicians. We have loved the songs in our hearts.

Next, a thank you to Mme. Hug and Mr. Abboud and the Environmental Club for the Bike To School and School Yard Cleanup. With the weather warmer, Warriors are getting outside more. Don't forget that sunscreen! And, to drive extra carefully around our school area.

A shout-out to our weekend Clearwater Cup 7s teams, our rugby teams, and our Track and Field, Field Hockey, and Boys Soccer athletes, along with our newly added Girls Flag Football. We are inspired by your energy.

Next week, our Tsuut'ina Language and Culture class will be learning about different tipi frame styles and tipi pitching. We are so fortunate to have Elder Louie Starlight joining us to lead these important teachings.

This month we honour Asian Heritage Month.  Here are some fun facts:

  • There are over 4.6 billion people who live in the continent of Asia
  • More than 2,300 languages are spoken in Asian
  • Over 60% of the world's population live in Asia
  • The tallest buildings and mountains in the world can be found in Asia
  • In Dec 2001, Senator Vivienne Poy adopted a motion to designate the month of May as Asian Heritage Month.
  • In May 2022, the Government of Canada officially declared the month of May as Asian Heritage Month!

And finally, we wish all of our Warriors a wonderful and well-deserved long weekend.

With gratitude,

Aileen Smyth, Principal
