What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.

Principal's Update
Dear HWW Students, Families and Community members
Today our focus is on Graduation! This Friday we celebrate and honour our 63rd Graduating Class. What a legacy is carried by this class. The Class of 2026 selected Dr. Jane Goodall’s quote:
What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide
what kind of difference you want to make.
This quote is very appropriate for this class. This Class is full of difference makers- of people who help peers in need, of people who share their voice and powerfully lead, of people who set and exceed academic, athletic and artistic goals. They are truly Artists, Scholars and Champions.
For those who are joining us Friday in person or online (Live Stream Link), welcome. To our Grade 10 and 11 families, we look forward to celebrating together in the future. As a reminder, there is no school for grade 10 or 11 students on May 29 as the staff will be celebrating with our graduates.
A couple of upcoming notes:

Friday, June 5, lovingly called Shenanigans’ Day, is a regular school day and attendance is taken. It also includes games led by our wonderful PE team on the field for Grade 12s on spares. And, all Warriors are invited to a free lunch on the field.
Students are reminded not to disrupt the learning in the building and are asked not to bring any water guns to school. Bags will be checked at the door, and water guns will be confiscated by staff and stored in the office until day’s end. Thanks for your help with this, parents and guardians.
We are looking forward to a wonderful day Friday, celebrating our Class of 2026.
With gratitude,
Aileen Smyth, Principal

RUGBY Boys
Congratulations to our Senior Boys Rugby Team who ended their season at the Quarterfinals against Western Canada last Wednesday. It was a difficult season with disruptions and variables beyond our control, amidst a highly competitive division, but our student-athletes persevered and performed admirably, with a number of compliments from the opposite coaching staff on our players’ excellent skills!
Less than 48 hours after that match, a slightly smaller roster of Grade 11s and 12s made their way to Lethbridge to defend Wise Wood's Bronze Medal from last year's Provincial Rugby Sevens Championship. With aims to at least equal last year's performance, our athletes managed to eliminate the defending champions in their first Friday match!!! They went on to run the table during Friday's round-robin pool play with every one of our players finding game time! Saturday's playoffs saw our team edge the hosts in the semi-finals, then go on to upset the defending Silver Medalists by a score of 29-7 to win GOLD and the title of 2026 School Sport Alberta's Rugby 7s Provincial Champions!!! Well done, Warriors!!!
Our Junior Boys Rugby Team are still in the hunt for the City Championship and will host Western Canada in the Semi-Finals on Tuesday, May 26th. Our team finished 1st in the table, but Western was the only team they failed to beat in the regular season, so the match-up promises to be an exciting one!
Keep your ears peeled for an update in the morning PA announcements!!!
Creative Arts - Hats off to all of our Senior Level Art Students who have their major acrylic canvases in the 2026 Grad Art Exhibition. These large paintings represent the work of each Art 30 student from both semesters and, apart from scale and medium, are an open-themed project that is meant to convey the artists world view(s) in some manner. This exhibition will be up until Friday, June 5th in the Learning Commons Courtyard!
